Lynn Nottage’s ‘Ruined’ (Winner of Best Play 2009)

Nottage’s play revisits the serious issue of rape and and other heinous forms of violence against women in the Democratic Republic of Congo.   It’s layered with deep memories of struggle, shame, love, hate, ruin and forlorn.  It’s a must read to fully understand and feel the pain of women who are an extension of ourselves.  And when you’re through with the play, tell others about it, and find out how you can help heal broken lives and restore communities.  Above all, help us all to foster our ruined women with love, fortitude, power, and leadership.  And remind them, once-upon-a-time they ruled Africa.
